general Information

The introduction day on conducting is intended for participants without conducting experiences, as a first introduction to conducting. Participants get an impression how it feels to actually conduct and what conducting is about. There is ample opportunity for practical exercises and individual attention.

Although attending the introduction day is not required, it can serve as an introduction to the elementary conducting course of 5 sessions. This course elaborates on the basic principles of conducting and there is more time for practical exercises and a lab conducting session.

The group of participants forms its own practice group. For this purpose, specific exercises and simple, short musical works are used. Since this introduction day will cover basic principles of conducting, it is suitable for participants who wish to conduct both vocal and instrumental ensembles. In order to participate, it is necessary to have a basic knowledge of music theory (see "Entry level").
