Songs on lyrics by Heine

On Sunday, October 23, 2011 Kleine steentjes muziektrainingen organizes a masterclass led by French Huijts. The subject is "Songs on lyrics by Heine".

Frans Huijts (Baritone) studied singing at the Maastricht Conservatory and at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
During the ‘Concours de la mélodie Française’ in Paris in April 1985, Frans Huijts received the ‘Prix Gabriel Fauré’ and in December 1987 he was a laureate of the international ‘Hugo Wolf competition’ in Stuttgart. He sung in several contemporary opera world premiere productions. With the National Opera he sung in ‘Die Soldaten’ by B. A. Zimmermann and Monteverdi's ‘Orfeo’ directed by Pierre Audi. At the Holland Festival Old Music he sung the leading part of ‘Corpo’ in the theatre production of ‘Rappresentatione di Anima e di Corpo’ by Emilio de Cavalieri. Frans Huijts regularly performs song recitals in which he promotes songs by Dutch composers. He also worked as a soloist on several CD's including the Dutch Bach Society conducted by Gustav Leonhardt and a CD with Lied-repertoire by Dutch composers, produced by the 'Vrieden van het lied' foundation. Frans Huijts regularly leads song interpretation classes for piano-voice duos. As a teacher he worked in Rio de Janeiro, Kingston (Jamaica) and Lusaka (Zambia). As a vocal coach, he works at the Schubert Institute in Baden, near Vienna. He is a professor of voice at the Rotterdam Conservatory.

Pianist is Maarten Hillenius. He studied at the conservatories of Amsterdam and Utrecht. From the very beginning, he specialized in the accompaniment of singers and participated in courses with Noel Lee, Irwin Gage and Rudolf Jansen. He gave concerts in many countries and accompanied singing courses in Spain, France, Portugal and the Netherlands with Max van Egmond, Roberta Alexander, Helmut Lips, Robert Lloyd, Loraine Nubar, Udo Reinemann, Maarten Koningsberger and Teresa Berganza. Furthermore, he regularly assists at the International Opera Center and the Dutch Opera, recorded several albums and was seen at Onafhankelijk Toneel and Toneelgroep Amsterdam. As a pianist he is associated to the vocal department at the Rotterdam Conservatory.

Contents:

During this masterclass, participants work for one day (morning and afternoon session) on Heine - song repertoire, led by Frans Huijts. A pianist is available throughout the masterclass.

Participants:

Professional and non-professional singers and voice students who want to specialize in Heine Lieder.

Entry level:

In order to participate in this master class, participants send in a recording of a song on a text by Heine after registring. After selection of the recordings by Frans Huijts , the final participants enter a repertoire list of songs on texts by Heine.  A selection from the repertoire lists will be subject during the masterclass.

The maximum group size is 10 participants. Final confirmation of registry follows after evaluation of the submitted recordings by FransHuijts.
