Stage demeanor with pupils

If you are looking for a workshop stage demeanor that is not primarily aimed at music school teachers, but in which the players and ensembles participate directly, please visit this page.

Student performances are a standard item of any music school practice. It is important for both student and school to make a good impression, and the skills of the involved students obviously form the base of that success. Performance behaviour, however, also plays a major role in a successful event. It is imperative that the teacher is capable of giving his or her students the tools, skills and guidance to improve their performance behaviour.

During the workshop, participating teachers will be given the insight and skills to better prepare their students for all aspects of student performance. Potential issues such as attitude, behaviour, presentation and body language will be discussed.

The first step is to identify all aspects that could play a role during a music performance. Which are these, and how can they be positively influenced? The next step is to role-play several ‘stage situations’ (both in classical and light music settings). Anything that plays a role before, during and after the music will be discussed during this workshop. Audio-visual media will be used during the workshop.

The participating teachers can bring their own instrument and composition of choice to the workshop. The music itself and/or the actual performance of it is, however, not a topic of discussion.
